X-Box Live Arcade’s ASSAULT HEROES 2 Springs Into Action

If you’re a fan of XBOX LIVE ARACDE games, a fan of games that are fun and easy to play, even moreover a fan of the original ASSAULT HEROES then this is a game for you. ASSAULT HEROES 2 hit the XBLA martekplace on May 12, 2008 and for 800 microsoft points, it’s ready for action!

Yes! Sierra Online/Vivendi Games returns, with a sequel to one of their best arcade up-scrolling arcade-shooters, ASSAULT HEROES 2. Formerly, I hadn’t been a fan of the previous title and hadn’t played much of it (outside of the demo), but after hearing a number of times, “Joe! You haven’t played ASSAULT HEROES?!” I figure I should at least get my hands on the sequel to play it and to see what all the talk was about. It turns out my fellow arcade game fans were right about what they said, this one is definitely a fun experience. Wanako Studios can be proud of this one.

In ASSAULT HEROES 2 the main characters, a red and a blue member of the “Assault Heroes” spring into action again to save mankind from a formidable enemy, vicious armies of attacking vehicles (which you can hi-jack from your enemy! Cool!), kamikaze robots and mechanical bosses with awesome firepower. No worries for the Assault Heroes because the boys come strapped in this new one with an arsenal of new upgraded weaponry (the Freeze-gun is great!!), brand new vehicles (including a new spaceship and the helicopter. I love choppers in games!), and increased firepower for those hard-to-kill bosses that just won’t go down. The fight will have you spending more time on foot running through battles and skirmishes with what will seem like an endless amount of enemies all trained for one mission; eliminate mankind. The fight will even be taken to outer-space for an inter-planetary dog-fight with your enemy using the new spaceship supplied for you. All of these extras, Colorful levels with decent graphics, combined with action-packed play, including enhanced online CO-OP game modes (so you don’t have to fight alone if you don’t want to) and a nice list of achievements make this one a must-have for arcade-shooter and XBLA fans alike.

In my personal experience, I spent more than a few hours playing this game (still haven’t finished it…but I will), I can surely say for me I wasn’t bored with this one, which is sometimes the case after playing some XBLA titles after about an hour or so. This game has had me hooked from the time I started playing it. Fortunately for me, the game is so simply laid-out and easy to play I found I spent more time actually playing in the game then having to learn a bunch of complex controls that you have to do with so many games today, user friendly (and fortunately for me “idiot-proof”.). ASSAULT HEROES 2 makes for some easy, yet challenging, game-play that’s great for passing the time by yourself or with a friend when you want a break from the norm that’s flooded the market. I would go as far as to say it’s a definite good reason to get on XBLA again, and to save mankind at the same time. Try it. If you missed the first one, grab this one and I believe you’ll share the same opinion. Let me know what you think about the game, or if you want to help me finish this one in CO-OP mode, send me a message since you all know my screen name on XBOX LIVE.
